High mortality after subsequent MI is similar regardless of initial diagnosis; hypothesis-generating for uniform secondary prevention trials.
Patients with suspected MI in whom the diagnosis is ruled out have a lower 10-year rate of subsequent MI compared to those with definite/probable MI, but mortality following a subsequent MI is similarly high across all groups.
