Impact Damage in Composite Materials

Techniques for determining the mechanical behaviour of fibre-reinforced composites at impact rates of strain are critically assessed and the types of behaviour generally observed are briefly described. Several of the approaches which have been used to model the quasi-static composite mechanical response are reviewed and attempts to extend some of these approaches to a modelling of the impact mechanical response are discussed.
