With thermoanalytical methods the solubility of rare earth salts in fluxes used for the growing of single crystals are investigated and the systems YVO4NaVO3 and REPO4Pb2P2O7 (RE = Tb to Lu, Y) are measured. The various REPO4 show different solubilities. Borax and lead oxide as additions to the fluxes increase the solubilities of the vanadates and phosphates respectively. The results allow the exact determination of starting temperatures and compositions for the flux growth of better crystals of these compounds.
