The T4 phage lysozyme has been digested by pepsin and 41 peptides were isolated by Dowex .50-X2column chromatography, paper chromatography, and paper electrophoresis. The determination of their partial or complete amino acid sequences is reported. The peptic peptides recovered account for all expected amino acid residues of the T4 phage lysozyme. The information derived from the peptic peptides together with that from the chymotryptic peptides, when analyzed with the previously obtained 26 tryptic peptides, permits assembly of the phage lysozyme peptides into three fragments.
