Superstable Separators (solid electrolytes) are required for novel aqueous-based high-energy lithium batteries, to enable their long-term operation. In their Communication on page 129 ff., C. Ma, M. Chi, et al. demonstrate excellent stability and conductivity of the cubic Li7La3Zr2O12 garnet in neutral and strongly basic solutions, indicating it may be the ideal solid electrolyte for next-generation high-energy lithium batteries.
