Evaluation of left ventricular function in patients treated for malignancy in childhood

110 adolescents, including 46 asymptomatic patients treated for malignancy in childhood (33 treated with anthracyclines [Group A], mean age 16.7 ± 1.7 years; 13 treated with non-anthracycline cytostatics [Group nonA], mean age 16.3 ± 2.0 years) and 64 healthy adolescents as a control group (Group K), mean age 16.8 ± 1.2 years.

Past treatment with anthracycline chemotherapy (mean 11.9 ± 2.4 years ago) or non-anthracycline chemotherapy (mean 9.5 ± 2.9 years ago) for childhood malignancy.

Healthy adolescent controls without a history of malignancy or chemotherapy.
