The intensity distributions for three oxygen band-systems, the Schumann-Runge and Herzberg systems of O 2 and the second negative system of O 2 + , are calculated, and compared where possible with experimental results. Some suggested identifications of bands observed in emission from the night sky are checked by comparison with the calculations.
