The rates of upwelling calculated from the change in temperature distribution derived from two sets of hydrological stations (0.0107 cm.r ‐1 ) and the rate of upwelling calculated from the wind derived transport offshore for the period between the collection of the hydrological data (0.0086 cm.s ‐1 ) are found to be consistent.
