Photocycle of sensory rhodopsin was studied by nanosecond spectroscopy. A new blue-shifted intermediate which is formed from sR 680 and is converted to sR 370 has been found and it has been tentatively named sR L . The peak of the absorption spectrum of sR L is located in the 520-580 nm wavelength region.
