The influence of the nature and proportion of components in the blends of polycarbonate (PC) with poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), ABS, polyethylene (PE), and polypropylene (PP) upon the rheological properties in the molten and solid state was studied. It has been observed that the PC‐PMMA system is compatible in the molten state, while the other systems are incompatible. For incompatible systems, as blending ratio increases, the melt viscosity of blends goes through a minimum. The experimental results support the idea of reciprocal lubricating effect of polymeric components.
