Vibratory response of floating pile foundations has recently been studied both analytically and experimentally (2,3,4,9, 10, 11). The methods used by Novak, et al., require making boundary condition and compatibility simplification assumptions whereas approximations to represent the semi-infmite half space are inherent in the finite element results of the writer.
