ABSTRACT The effects of row-sideslope length and steepness on sideslope erosion were studied for four soils at several rain intensities. Row-sideslope length had a major effect on erosion per unit of area where rilling occurred on the sideslopes, but length had little effect on unrilled sideslopes. Sideslope steepness affected erosion for all conditions studied, but the change in erosion was slightly less than linearly related to the change in steepness. Length and steepness affected row-sideslope erosion most for the more erodible soils and at the higher rain intensities.
