We study the dynamical properties of a liquid-metal surface, using a many-body force model for gold and molecular dynamics. Longitudinal and shear surface modes are observed. Surface longitudinal waves have a sound propagation velocity about 30% lower than in the bulk liquid. Shear vertical modes exhibit excitations of capillary type at low k vectors, and Rayleigh-like waves for larger k .
