The prevalence of cafe-au-lait (CAL) patches has been compared in normal subjects and in patients with tuberous sclerosis (TS). The mean proportion, with one or more CAL patches, in the ‘normals’ was 16-0% and that in the patients with TS was 15.4%. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups.
