The correlated phenomena of thermoluminescence (TL) and thermally stimulated conductivity (TSC) are discussed in simple models with regard to first- and second-order conditions and thermally disconnected traps. The resulting systems of differential equations are solved with an analogue computer without any assumption. The comparison of the exact solution with usual approximate calculations shows that the simplest model consisting of only a single trap and recombination level is sufficient to explain the experimental results especially with respect to TSC. Furthermore the exact calculation shows that the existing methods for determination of trap depths and frequency factors derived from approximate solutions and using maximum temperatures and half-widths are only limitedly applicable.
