THIN-LAYER drying rates for yellow dent corn were determined as affected by drying air temperature, airflow rate, initial moisture content, and relative humidity. Drying air temperature had the greatest effect on drying rates. Initial moisture content also influenced drying rates. Airflow and relative humidity had smaller effects. The data were fit to a model of the form suggested by Page (1949). The current model describes thin-layer drying rates for corn in the temperature range of 27 to 116 C and in the initial moisture content range of 23 to 36% d.b.
