Taking the Gel'fand-Levitan integral equation in one-dimensional inverse scattering, an iterative technique is applied to the profile reconstruction. Although the procedure is step-by-step in a space-time diagram, the iterations are performed only within each step, so that the profile can be retrieved in a specified region without the necessity of starting the process at the very beginning of interface. Moreover, the insensitivity to noise and the applicability to band-limited data are tested.
