These results strengthen the reliability of the postulated scheme of the formation of these two alcohols from puruvic acid proposed by us. 3. Effect of aeration, pH and leucine and ammonium chloride added in the fermenting medium on the formation of isobutanol and isoamyl alcohol was examined.
