An approach to polymers with balanced charge injection is described in which an electron-transporting segment, a hole-transporting segment, and an emissive unit are incorporated into a single polymer chain. The synthesis of an oxadiazole-containing polymer (see Figure) is described and the efficiency of single-layer light-emitting devices based on this polymer investigated.
