The drift velocities of negative ions in gaseous xenon produced by electron attachment to sulphur hexafluoride molecules were measured as a function of xenon pressure and applied electric field strength at 295 K. A reduced mobility of 0.8+or-0.05 cm 2 bar V -1 s -1 was obtained for the negative SF 6 ions.
