The diffraction of a plane electromagnetic wave by a composite circular cylinder is studied theoretically. The cylinder comprises two 180 ° sectors; one is a perfect conductor, the other a dielectric. The incident wave is polarized parallel to the axis of the cylinder. A quasistatic method of solution is employed; it presumes that (2π/λ) (radius of cylinder) <1.0 approximately. Some curves of backscattering and forward scattering are presented.
