The reciprocity principle is found to be a powerful test of linearity in the Mariner television data. In spite of serious problems with the photometric data, we find significant variations in limb-darkening from place to place on Mars. These variations allow us to study a new parameter of the Martian surface (most probably the grain size or degree of compaction).
