The shape of fronts obtained when releasing a cohesionless granular material at the top of a rough inclined plane is experimentally investigated. The measurements are compared with theoretical predictions given by a model based on a depth averaged momentum equation. Good agreement is found when the empirical friction law proposed in a previous study [O. Pouliquen, Phys. Fluids 11, 542 (1999)] is introduced in the model.
