83 outpatients with cirrhosis and adequate echocardiographic images (from an initial cohort of 162), mostly males, in different stages of liver disease, compared with 46 healthy subjects. Excluded: arterial hypertension, history of cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, heart valve disease, or coronary heart disease.

Intervention

Diagnosis of cirrhotic cardiomyopathy (CCM) according to the 2019 Cirrhotic Cardiomyopathy Consortium criteria (LVEF ≤ 50% or absolute GLS < 18% or > 22%, and advanced diastolic dysfunction).

Comparator

Cirrhotic patients without cirrhotic cardiomyopathy.

Outcome

Incidence of death or type 1 hepatorenal syndrome at follow-up.hard clinical

The 2019 criteria for cirrhotic cardiomyopathy, primarily driven by altered global longitudinal strain at rest, do not predict mortality or hepatorenal syndrome in cirrhotic patients.
