By nuclear spin-lattice relaxation we have studied the soliton dynamics in the linear-chain antiferromagnet (CH 3 ) 4 NMnCl 3 (TMMC) below T N , where the onset of 3D long-range order was predicted to result from a novel soliton pairing mechanism. The observed field and temperature dependences of T 1 clearly indicate a change of topology of the solitons accompanied by a doubling of their excitation energy.
