Why the study?
Whether ECG conduction and repolarization patterns are associated with speckle tracking echocardiography parameters in subjects without overt cardiac disease was not yet investigated.
In a population without overt cardiac disease, longer QTc is associated with increased mechanical dispersion, whereas QRS duration is not, suggesting that echocardiography-based dyssynchrony does not largely overlap with ECG-based dyssynchrony.
