Earlier investigations by our group on the H⁺-H collision problem using an approximate form of the Faddeev equations have been extended to include the $2p$ states in both channels in the coupling scheme. Calculations have been performed with and without the proton-proton interaction. Results for the total charge transfer with proton-proton interaction are found to be reliable above 50 keV. Inclusion of $1s$, $2s$, and $2p$ states in the coupling scheme is not sufficient to predict the correct nature of the 1s→2s and 1s→2p excitation and capture cross sections by the present method.
