This article examines adaptations of David and Jonathan in Late Medieval French materials. It analyzes textual and visual depictions of the biblical couple to explore queerness through same-gender love, desire, and intimacy amongst elite male warriors (medieval knights). In doing so, it considers how idealized friendship and fictive kinship affected how medieval societies dealt with and came to accept queer links within and amongst themselves.
