287 essential hypertension (EH) patients (Han Chinese origin, SBP ≥140 mm Hg and/or DBP ≥90 mm Hg) and 289 age- and sex-matched healthy controls without histories of cardiovascular or cerebrovascular diseases. Also included primary human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) isolated from 19 fresh human umbilical cords.
