The kinetics of the cathode have been examined on Au in alkaline electrolytes using the rotating ring‐disk method. Only the series mechanism is operative. The cathodic and anodic kinetic data for the couple support the mechanism The further reduction of to OH − is first order in and involves a rate‐controlling step with very little potential dependence.
