Within the framework of many-body perturbation theory, a calculation has been carried out for the process of double electron ejection in photoabsorption, γ+Ne(1s²2s²2p⁶)→Ne⁺⁺(1s²2s²2p⁴)+e+e. Excellent agreement with experiment has been obtained. The importance of electron-electron correlation and the dominant physical processes involved are discussed.
