Nerve cells often establish precise synaptic connections with target cells at distant locations, both within the CNS and in the periphery. During embryonic development, axonal growth cones have to navigate over long distances from the site of the cell body to the site of the target cell to establish these connections. We are interested in the developmental mechanisms underlying growth cone navigation.
