A new technique is described for testing the abrasivity of dentifrices. The technique was based on determining the decrease of adsorption of dye on enamel and this was assumed to correspond to the abrasivity. The results of the proposed method were evaluated by comparing with those obtained by the weight loss method and the results of both methods were found similar. The prominent point was that the abrasivity was very high in the first year.
