The ultraviolet photoejection of electrons from ferrocyanide, in various water—alcohol mixtures, was studied by using N2O as a scavenger. The quantum yields of solvated electrons were obtained. The results can not be interpreted in terms of a single parameter of the solvent such as dielectric constant, relaxation time, or diffusion coefficient. Mozumder's theory was chosen as a possible way of interpretation. The agreement between the calculated and experimental results is good, provided enough care is taken in choosing the relaxation times. The thermalization length of the ejected electrons was found to be 30 Å, independent of the particular water—alcohol mixture.
