The article highlights some points about the relationship between tourism and local and regional development : the actual development, indicators, processes, links between the natural and human environment, the role of the image, policies undertaken. Some examples are presented, especially those of the field trips and of the people met in the course of a tour from Amiens to Lille via Le Touquet and the Opal Coast.
