The author compares the implantation of the great leisure facilities for the outdoor recreation in three urban regions, the Nord-Pas-de-Calais (F), the Randstad Holland (NL) and the Ruhr District (FRG) : situation in the human and natural environment (population, forests, expanses of water...), principles and conception of the town and country planning (planning, dimensions and contents of the leisure facilities, regional institutions, size of the communities...). The Nord-Pas-de-Calais appears less advantaged than the Ruhr District and above all the Randstad.
