S ynopsis New generic and specific synonymy is established after examination of types as a pre‐liminary step towards the preparation of a catalogue of Oriental Tachinidae. Seventeen names of the genus‐group and 24 specific names are newly placed in synonymy, and 75 new combinations are established. Sixteen lectotypes and two neotypes are designated. One new generic and one new specific synonym in Australian Tachinidae are included.
