Employees with improved health habits are expected to use fewer sick days, medical care services, and worker’s compensation benefits, l The Live for Life health promotion program at Duke University is committed to helping the university attract, retain, and motivate a high-caliber workforce. It accomplishes this mission by raising the level of awareness of health and wellness issues and decreasing risk factors through focused lifestyle modification programs. The program aims to improve employee health, reduce medical care utilization and cost, reduce absenteeism, and assist Duke University administration in maintaining a committed and productive workforce. The objective of this study is to examine the effects of the Live for Life program on long-term health improvements for the Duke University employee population.
