Photographs of the solar corona and zodiacal light from cameras flown on balloons at an altitude of 1t00O0 feet were obtained on July 20,1963. The absolute intensity of the light of the solar corona between the limb of the Sun and 70 elongation was determined from these photographs. The absolute brightness, polarization, and direction of polarization of the inner corona at effective wavelengths of 4750 A and 8300 A were measured from a station at The Forks, Maine. Finally, as a result of photographs taken from the ground, from a jet aircraft at 400(x) feet over Canada, and from balloons at 110000 feet, it was possible to determine the sky brightness during the eclipse as a function of atmospheric pressure in order to plan for future observations.
