It is shown by neutron diffraction measurements that a truly amorphous solid form of sulphur can be made by quenching liquid sulphur into liquid nitrogen, and then holding the sample obtained at 77 K. The structure factor is similar to that for the parent liquid. The data are compared to published model data for a quenched S8 system, and significant differences found.
