The density of electron states in clusters and in a perfect crystal has been calculated in order to study the influence of the cluster size. The cluster calculations were carried out using Lloyd's scheme with clusters consisting of 1, 13 and 19 scatterers. The perfect crystal calculations were performed with the aid of the KKR scheme a natural simplification of the method in the presence of translational symmetry. Silver atoms were chosen as scattering centres, using two potentials, one with the coefficient of the Slater free-electron exchange alpha =1 and the other with alpha = 2 / 3 . One conclusion is that, due to the use of symmetry, larger clusters can be tackled than previously.
