The effect of a flexible layer on the boundary layer stabilization was investigated by measuring the skin-friction drag on flat-plates with flexible surface at the Reynolds number range from 6XI0 5 to IX 10 7 Experiments were carried out by towing the test-plates in a 80 m water tank.Porous synthetic rubber was used as flexible material for the coating of the test-plates.It was found that the drag on the flexible surface plates is approximately equal to the drag on the rigid reference plates.
