Coronary CT angiography with multiplanar reformation can accurately diagnose rare and potentially fatal localized aortic dissections at the sinus of Valsalva.
Coronary CTA multiplanar reformats may aid diagnosis of rare sinus of Valsalva dissection; leaves open need for prospective validation.
Localized aortic dissection at the sinus of Valsalva is a rare finding in patients with Stanford type A dissections. This condition can be fatal and difficult to diagnose. In this study, we report a case of a 69-year-old man with aortic dissection at the sinus of Valsalva, which was accurately diagnosed with multiplanar reformatted images of coronary computed tomography angiography, and later confirmed at surgery.
