Quantitative analysis tests citation dialogue in knowledge streams, revealing significant fragmentation in the field.
This deposit contains the full manuscript for a quantitative bibliometric analysis of fragmentation in ignorance studies. The study tests the theoretical claim that the field's three foundational streams (agnotology, epistemic injustice, and critical race theory) lack citation dialogue at a full-corpus scale. Drawing on 5,658 articles and 10,856 citation edges from OpenAlex (2007–2026), the analysis utilizes the Mann-Kendall trend test and Pettitt change-point test. Findings reveal a significant downward trend in cross-stream citation share. However, a baseline analysis using the Blau diversity index demonstrates that much of this decline is a mechanical consequence of growing size imbalances between the streams, with actual divergence largely confined to the field's early formative years. Data and Code Availability: The datasets, OpenAlex extraction queries, and analytical scripts supporting the findings of this study are available from the author upon reasonable request.
