The energy band structure of LiH in the selfconsistent Hartree-Fock approximation has been computed, and the state density for this solid computed directly by a new band model. Evidence is found for a strong optical absorption 'resonance' which should be present in the Li-K-shell spectrum and occurs about 13 eV beyond the onset of K-shell absorption.
