The dephosphorization reaction of low carbon Fe-P alloy with Na2CO3 has been studied at 1300°C under an argon atmosphere. The results obtained are summarized as follows:(1) As carbon monoxide is evolved during the reaction and the carbon content in the alloy increases after the reaction, it is concluded that the dephosphorization reaction can be expressed as follows: Na2CO3+2/3[P]=2/3Na3PO4+1/3CO+2/3[C](2) The range of the average oxygen partial pressure, PO2 (atm), during the reaction estimated on the basis of the Na-C-O2 phase diagram and of the phosphate capacity as follows: log PO2 (atm)=-17--19
