Reflectance and transmittance in the infrared spectral region are determined on Ga-doped Bi2Te3 single crystal samples grown using a modified Bridgman technique; the type of electrical conductivity is found from the polarity of thermopower. The plasma resonance frequency, optical relaxation time, and the high-frequency dielectric constant are determined by fitting the Drude-Zener formulas to the reflectance spectra. It is found that Ga impurities in Bi2Te3 act as donors. This effect is qualitatively explained by interaction of substitutional Ga defects — arising on incorporating of Ga atoms into the Bi2Te3 crystal lattice with anti-site Bi defects and by the formation of Ga interstitial ions. The dependence of the absorption coefficient on the energy of incident photons, as obtained from the transmittance spectra, is discussed.
