Examines willingness to pay for forest recreation access in Germany, suggesting valuable insights for environmental policy.
The files contain the original raw data of a 2023 population survey in Germany that used the contingent valuation method for valuing forest recreation, as well as the corresponding questionnaire. This application of the Contingent Valuation Method aimed at valuing the willingness to pay (WTP) for the right to access residential and regional forests over one year. To examine individual methodological details, different variants of the survey were distributed to several subgroups of respondents. For one of the subgroups, a valuation instrument was used that had already been used in an identical form in 2011 (Elsasser & Weller 2013) and in a comparable form in several other studies from the 1990s. Answers were received from 4625 respondents altogether.
