Describes two new fungal species, enhancing knowledge of biodiversity in China.
During a survey of Agaricales fungi in tropical regions of China, two new species within this order from Yunnan Province were delineated based on comprehensive morphological and phylogenetic investigations. Morphologically, Campanella albomarginata is distinguished by its resupinate, coriaceous basidiomata with a white to cream hymenial surface, a monomitic hyphal system with clamped generative hyphae, subcylindrical basidia with four sterigmata, and drop-shaped basidiospores (9.5–12 × 5–7.5 µm). Crustomyces odontoideus is characterized by an odontioid hymenial surface, a monomitic hyphal system with clamped generative hyphae, subcylindrical to subclavate basidia with four sterigmata, and ovoid to broadly ellipsoid basidiospores measuring 4–4.5 × 2.5–3 µm. Phylogenetic analyses based on a two-marker dataset (ITS and LSU) support the recognition of both taxa as distinct species belonging to Campanella (Campanellaceae) and Crustomyces (Cystostereaceae) , respectively, within Agaricales . Descriptions, illustrations, and phylogenetic analyses of the new species are provided. The results augment knowledge of the species diversity and taxonomy of fungi in southwestern China.
