The two-dimensional Kadomtsev–Petviashivilli-modified equal width equation is investigated. The strategy here consists of using the tanh method and the sine–cosine method to obtain a variety of exact solutions of this equation. Both schemes work well and reveal distinct exact solutions. The obtained solutions include solitary wave solutions and periodic solutions.
